Courtney Holm - A.BCH Founder

I am starting this project off with a message about one of the most inspiring brands I have come across. They're small but making waves by doing things previously thought impossible by most of the fashion industry. I am sure everyone, like me is feeling a little overwhelmed by all of the COVID-19 news but I am looking to the brands who truly inspire me. A.BCH is using offcuts to create masks and are sending out one free with every online order. The brand does not claim anything but the scientific truth, these masks follow research by the Cambridge University showing they can reduce inhalation of airbourne particles by 50% (acknowledging COVID is not an airbourne virus) but the main purpose of the mask is to help prevent the wearer from touching their face - I know I struggle not to constantly do this while out and about! The mask pattern is also available for free on their website.

A.BCH is an independent fashion label founded on hyper transparency and circular design. Creating considered fashion and lifestyle pieces for an enduring wardrobe, A.BCH is making responsible fashion desirable while removing many of the barriers customers face when seeking out healthier alternatives.

With an aim to usher in genuine change within the fashion industry, every piece created at A.BCH is developed with intent, from responsibly sourced, circular raw materials, ethical supply chains, focus on the user phase/s and garment afterlife.

A.BCH is as circular as possible and 100% transparent:

• They don’t follow the traditional seasons, they release garments as they are ready.

• Every garment has a code which the customer can search on the website to see full transparency

• They make 20-30% of product in house; they outsource their jersey range (within Australia) to have a lower RRP.

• Customer receives a digital care manual upon purchase.

A.BCH founder Courtney Holm has started a Facebook page called ‘Sustainable Fashion Source Australia’ when brands can help each other make up minimums. Allowing small brands to use amazing resources such as GOTS certified threads and labels.
